Employees exhibiting stress in the work environment are more likely to be unhealthy, poorly motivated, less productive and less safe at work.  As a consequence organisations with a stressed workforce are less likely to be successful in a competitive market.   Work related stress is recognised as a major challenge to workers health and the healthiness of the organisation.

Research findings show that the most stressful type of work is work that values excessive demands and pressures that are not matched to workers’ knowledge and skills, where there is minimal opportunity to exercise choice or control and where there is limited support from others.
